Field to Fork Festival: Volunteers

A dedicated team of volunteers assists in the smooth operation of the Field to Fork Festival. Here are the basics to being a Field to Fork Festival volunteer:

Why Should You Volunteer?
By volunteering for the F2F Festival, you participate in an incredible event in our community, make new friends, socialize and have fun! Join us in welcoming festival guests, vendors, exhibitors and workshop session instructors.

Who's Eligible?
F2F Festival is looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to help on Saturday, July 20. Volunteers, age 18 and older are welcome.

Volunteer Requirements:
In order for the Festival to communicate with you, schedule volunteers and program assignments effectively, volunteers must:

Sign up for volunteer shifts of your choice by completing the Volunteer Application and Volunteer Contract.
Be able to understand, agree, and follow the Festival Coordinator's directions regarding volunteers assignments
Complete the volunteer assignment in a satisfactory way (showing up on time, staying the duration, wearing volunteer laynard, representing the Festival in an enthusiastic, profession, positive manner)
Notify the Field to Fork Festival Coordinator as soon as possible in case of availability changes

What Will You Do?
Volunteers are asked to assist in various areas including but not limited to event set-up and break-down, visitor interaction, parking, and site maintenance.

Supporting Local Agriculture

At Halcomb's Knob Farm, we take a basic approach in our daily activities, knowing the challenges we face today, will guide us in the direction of action we implement tomorrow.

Located within 6 miles of I-75, exit 76, our 30-acre Garrard County small farm operation encompasses a mixture of sustainable homesteading and environmental education where we strive to provide a variety activities to the community at-large. Join us on Saturday, July 20, 2013, as we host our annual Field to Fork Festival, celebrating the diversity of locally produced food and farm products and highlighting the skills and resources needed to sustain eco-communities.

First held in July 2011, this Festival's mission is three-fold: 1) to provide opportunities through hands-on learning and instruction to enhance knowledge and skills needed to be proactive in our region's agricultural marketplace; 2) to showcase the Commonwealth's variety of agricultural commodities available locally and regionally, as well as offer tantalizing flavors of these home-grown products; and 3) to bring together in one common area, the vendors and exhibitors who provide the supplies and informational resources to Kentucky's sustainable consumers.

Halcomb's Knob

Welcome to Halcomb's Knob

Opened in September 2011, the Knob offers overnight lodging accommodations amidst 30 acres of native fauna and flora with western and eastern species diversification; an Environmental Learning Center (ELC); and sustainable farm.

Overnight guests of the Knob are served foods grown on-site including sun-ripened apples, apricots, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, peaches, pears, plums, raspberries, and strawberries as well as local produce including free-range eggs; farm-fresh pork sausage; and Kentucky-grown and milled grains.

Educational programs designed around community sustainability and natural resources preservation, including our Field to Fork Festival, provides the backbone to the Knob's environmental education programming.
